Protecting your personal information is important to us.
This policy will help you understand how we must handle your personal information in accordance with the law and South Australia’s Information Privacy Principles. Super SA is responsible for the privacy and security of information while it is collected, stored, accessed, corrected, used, and disclosed. The Super SA website and Super SA Member Portal may contain links to external websites, which are provided for information purposes only. If you have clicked on a link to an external website, the Super SA Privacy Policy no longer applies. Super SA takes no responsibility for the information or collection of user information contained on any external website, and links are provided on the basis that users make their own decisions about the accuracy, currency and reliability of the information contained therein.
The content of the Super SA Privacy Statement may be updated from time to time, so we suggest that when you next return to the Super SA website you read the information provided on this page again.
What personal information is collected and held by Super SA?
The privacy and security of your personal and other information when you interact with “Super SA” is important to us. “Super SA” includes visiting the Super SA website, using the Super SA online member portal, and when you provide your personal (and other) information to Super SA in person, on forms, or via other methods (such as email or phone). We will only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities, and we collect it by fair and lawful means.Type of personal information we collect
Super SA collects the following types of personal information about you (as relevant to your interactions with us):

• Address (postal and physical address)
• Email address
• Contact phone numbers
• Date of birth
• Your Tax File Number (TFN)
• Employment details (including salary information)
• Details on who you nominate to receive benefits following your death (beneficiaries)
• Bank account or financial account details (for payment of benefits or contributions)
In some situations, we may collect information about your health, including medical information. For example, this can occur if you make an application, change to, or claim on your insurance.
The legislation allows Super SA to obtain information about your claim from appropriate medical practitioners and your employer if needed. Super SA will only use that information for the purpose of your claim and only disclosed it in line with the confidentiality provisions.
We will only collect sensitive information with your consent, or, if it is required or authorised by law or a court order. Sensitive information includes, but is not limited to health data, information about race or ethnicity, political or religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or criminal record. Super SA generally does not need to collect most types of sensitive information about members, apart from health information for insurance claims as noted above.
Your Rights to Access and Correct Your Personal Information
In accordance with the Freedom of information Act 1991 you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. Furthermore, in accordance with the Freedom of information Act 1991, If you believe that any personal information we hold about you is incorrect, irrelevant, out of date or misleading, you have the right to request that the relevant information be corrected and updated.

How we collect personal information
We may collect personal information in the following ways:
- Your employer, including through Shared Services SA,
- Your advisor,
- Previous superannuation fund,
- Other representatives authorised by you,
- Accessing our website,
- Registering on our Member portals,
- Registering your attendance at one of our webinars or seminars,
- When you enter promotions, competitions or respond to one of our surveys (or surveys by third party service providers acting on our behalf),
- With your express consent when you advise us on any form,
- When you request content on our website to be emailed to you,
- During conversations with our representatives, or
- Written requests – in writing by post, via our online enquiry form, or by email.
Super SA will only collect personally identifiable information, such as your name, client ID, email address and contact phone number, if you provide it to us. Please note, in some instances, if you do not provide us with personal information, it may restrict how we may be able to help you.
How is my personal information collected online?
The information Super SA collects about you will depend on how you use and interact with our website. When you use our website, you consent to the use of cookies.
A cookie is a small piece of data that a web site can transfer to your computer hard drive for record keeping purposes. Super SA may use cookies to help you access, use our site, and improve our services. You can set your browser to reject a cookie that Super SA attempts to place on your computer. However, you may then be limited in your use of some areas of the site.

Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect information about how people use our websites. The information we obtain from Google Analytics helps us understand user needs so that we can offer a better user-experience. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about which pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got there (for example from a search engine, a link, an advertisement etc.) and what you select. Information collected by the cookies (including your IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. How we hold your information
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, or as required by law. Super SA complies with the State Records Act 1997 regarding the archiving and disposal of records. This means that when personal information is no longer needed, we will securely destroy or permanently de-identify it, in accordance with applicable government records disposal schedules. By not holding information longer than necessary, we reduce privacy risks to our members.
How long do we keep your personal information

In carrying out our business, we may use personal information we collect from you for our business functions and activities, which may include the following:
- Providing you with information, products, or services you have requested from us (including where we engage third parties to provide you with goods or services on our behalf),
- Displaying content, which is customised to your interests (for example, on our website or communications),
- Providing you with information about superannuation and other related products and services,
- Providing financial education to you,
- Providing information to financial advisers (only when you have explicitly provided us consent to do so),
- Providing significant event notices and statements,
- Conducting member research to improve our products and services to you,
- Personalising and customising your experiences on our website (for example, remembering your preferences)
- Prompting a communication based on your interests or interactions,
- Using aggregated or de-identified information for the purposes of data analysis, research, and reporting,
- Using information (including IP addresses) to assist with risk management, cyber security, and fraud prevention activities,
- Verifying your identity when you contact us or access our services, and authenticating information to prevent unauthorised access to your account
- Complying with our legal and regulatory obligations, or
- For any other purpose communicated to you at the time that the personal information was collected, or for which have you provided your consent.
In addition to the above, from time to time, we may send you direct communication and information about products and services, which are relevant to you as a member. This communication may be via various methods including mail and electronic media such as email and SMS. Where you have provided us a preferred method of communication, where practical, we will try to use that method. You can choose to opt in or out of these communications at any time by visiting your Member Portal or by contacting Super SA.
How we disclose your personal information
In some circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to:
- Your approved financial adviser (only when you have explicitly provided us consent to do so),
- Any fund to or from which your benefit is to be transferred or rolled over to,
- Your legal personal representative, or any other person who may be entitled to receive your death benefit, or any person contacted to assist us to process that benefit (in the event of your death),
- Third party service providers who assist Super SA in providing products and services.
- Your employer; and
- Otherwise in accordance with our governing legislation.
In these circumstances, we require organisations who handle or store personal information to comply with the Information Privacy Principles Instruction (IPPI), the South Australian Protective Security Framework and other relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
Whenever we disclose personal information to a third party, we impose requirements to ensure your information is handled with the same level of protection that applies when Super SA handles it. We also expect them to implement appropriate security measures and use the information only for the purposes we have specified.
Some of our service providers (for example, certain IT or analytics providers) may be located outside South Australia or overseas. In such cases, we take reasonable steps to ensure any personal information transferred outside of Australia remains protected. We will not disclose your personal information to an overseas recipient unless we have taken measures to ensure the information will be safeguarded in accordance with standards equivalent to those that apply here in Australia.
Where you have accessed a service using a Digital ID that uses the Australian Government Digital ID System (AGDIS), we may disclose your personal information to the AGDIS System Administrator and several other authorised organisations, departments, regulators and other persons where it is reasonably necessary for the purposes of performing functions or exercising powers, such as responding to reported cyber security incidents.
Fraud and cybersecurity monitoring
Super SA conducts regular security testing to protect your account, if we identify any irregular activity or a potential vulnerability, we will lock your account until we are able to verify your identity.
These steps help protect you and your super savings from unauthorized access or theft.

Privacy inquiries and complaints
If you have any concerns, complaints, or believe that your privacy has been compromised, please let us know. You can contact Super SA’s using the contact details above or through our Complaint Resolution Process here. We take all privacy complaints seriously and will investigate your concern and respond to you as soon as possible. We aim to resolve all issues fairly and quickly in accordance with our internal complaint handling procedures. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may seek further advice or assistance from the Privacy Committee of South Australia or the Ombudsman SA regarding your complaint.
Protecting your personal information is important to Super SA. We will continue to review and update our Privacy Policy to ensure we meet standards of privacy protection and comply with any changes in the law or best practices.
